"I signed this including the part which says "In a new society without financial inhibitors and constraints, the greatest challenges facing humanity will be technical ones. ie. How do we provide enough food, water, shelter, energy, materials, and ensure a high standard of sustainable living for everybody? ... As opposed to traditional politics and speculation, the scientific method is a proven, robust system of solving these technical problems using just the available facts and basic logic. It also has a common reference across all cultures and languages." I would just like to add that I actually do not believe technical problems to be the biggest problems, or techno-fixes to have all the answers. I think building community, consensus decision making and education need to also be taken into account. I think building community and compassion and consensus-building skills are more important than techno-fixes. "

"I look forward to the day where more people will realise the importance of these ideals, and work forthe collective good of humanity, rather than the financial good of a small percentage. Money and greed is destroying society, and making us forget what we are capable of. my favourite quote from the movie "Men In Black" "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow." Maybe tomorrow, we will collectively learn to takecare of this wonderful worl that we live in. "

"I have two concerns- one: Who will mine the minerals needed for the technology, and how will it be done in a sustainable manner? two: Who will grow our food if nobody wants to work? And one statement: I would happily become a teacher in this new world. I need to do something - it keeps me happy. I'm becoming a teacher right now - for high school students."

"this sounds great and i want to believe it could work.. but is there any info regarding implementation? what happens if someone were to get greedy or selfish, are there power systems in place, how would they work, who would decide, what is motivating people? I dont mean to sound cynical, and ask those around me this very idea has been floating around my head for years. I can see a lot of implication. the biggest is those in power/lots of money/means of production/haves/capitalist giving up the power.. this type of person has the most to lose in this situation, and as they have the power (through money) they will do everything not to lose it? any ideas? .... so these principals sound great and I would be all for a global free community shift, i will help where i can, but there are some issues that need to be discussed first, with a plan implemented in order to succeed. i think the reason this hasnt happened earlier is because of how hard this plan is to establish and implement. "Our current society and mankind in general also lacks complete, sound communication. If we had all the best scientists in the world working together at once to find a solution to a single problem for example, the answer would be found fairly quickly, IF they worked out a way to communicate and work as a team effectively. As a group gets larger its potential to perform better increases, however, it requires much more effort to reach that potential by communicating effectively. Communication is vital for any kind of functional teamwork, and functional teamwork is vital for optimum performance. I believe money is staggering any current attempts to do this. Money creates inequality, inequality within a team isn't optimum, and can cause secrets. Secrets halt communication and thus consequently halt progress. Are we brave enough to progress? Mankind is currently like the boy nervous to ask that girl out to prom, we could fall on our face, but we will grow as a whole from the experience. -Rom"

"Thank you, you have filled a void that has been begging to be realised. We can't trust politicians for they are the whores of corporations. Our society has become so sick that people are dying, living in situations that drive them to suicide, crime, drugs and other disadvantageous and self destructive behaviour. I see it getting worse every day. First illuminated by the truths in WikiLeaks I now know that we are all on our own unless we share ourselves to benefit our community. The word community is such a strong word that it is considered so heretic by the former Prime Minister to New Zealand, Jim Bolger who banned the word from every meeting, including church sermons. If we want to survive we need to go back to borrowing a cup of sugar from our neighbour, and sending our children next door with our surplus eggs and rhubarb. No chiding of children who climb the garden wall to pinch our apples, sustainable and carbon neutral was the way, and will be the way again."
