"We don't want to be provided for, we want the autonomy to provide for ourselves. A life without need for all will always be out of reach so long as a few horde the capacity to determine the use of human resources and technology. Therefore, direct Democracy is the first and most vital element of liberation from scarcity. Without a legal foundation in total individual autonomy, we can't expect systems based around partial economic freedom to provide it because we asked. Republicanism was built in a time without the means or motivation to support massive democracy, but as we've advanced the question of the ethics of Republicanism in our time is as imperative as Feudalism two hundred years ago. The answer is to work toward true technology-enabled Democracy, to then provide freely for ourselves and our posterity. Voters cannot reasonably expect an enduring freedom from want while the institution of Republicanism exists. No one represents me more honestly than myself. No one can."
