"I just have one critique of this amazing charter which has to do with principle 9...I know many people who are called disabled, use wheel chairs and are dependent on others for care. however this does not mean that they do not contribute to society...it is quite the contrary... they offer up to us all the opportunity to practice compassion, they exemplify strength, courage and tenacity to overcome in the face of their adversity and they share their deep wisdom and knowledge which develops from the experience of living life as they do. as this reads now it is offensive and a form of ableism (so able bodied people defining what they contribute and what it means to be considered contributing members) to suggest that they do not contribute to society. as it is I cannot pass this on to many of my community because this would be hurtful and demeaning. I sincerely hope you change this principle to be respectful of the different way in which 'disabled' people contribute"
