I have been told that these things are not possible and it has been implied to me that I should conform to the society that I live in. I live in America. The land of the free. But I see no freedom here. I feel no freedom here. I feel sorrow for those who need help and do not get it. I feel sorrow for those who suffer inequality due to religious belief. "I'm not sure what is meant by 'no obligation' in the 6th principle. I agree that the world needs to find a way to cooperate and become a global community that operates with similar goals and values, but isn't it in human nature to be selfish if things aren't easy? How can this change be made without asking people to sacrifice and recognize the greater good that could come of it in the long run? Community members should be obligated to something or their freedoms will consume them with their past understanding of how society is probably just easier with money because that is the way it progressed. Basically, I'm worried that people won't have the will power to dedicate themselves to ideals such as these. Although I agree they are necessary and hopefully inevitable, how do we get people to stay on board?"

"I have been ruminating over similar notions for a couple of years now, and glad to see that I am not alone. Although I have a few minor points of contention, I agree with the overall spirit of the Free World Charter. If you have not already done so, I think St. Francis of Assisi deserves much credit as the first European to embrace and implement the ideas embodied in the Charter. Born into a life of great expectations, Francis transformed himself from a self-focused wealthy youth eager to achieve knightly honor and a privileged courtly life, to a man who renounces his family and fortune and, in his words, marries Lady Poverty. His life deserves study in context of the Charter. After all, Francis was very successful in convincing thousands to follow his example of life without money, including those who were formerly part of the wealthy and ruling classes. "

"So excited for the awakening. There are already communities sprouting up all over the world. The most successful of which seeming to be Damanhur in Italy so far. You should consider contacting Jacques Fresco to get word out there about the charter. He has the same idea you have with what he calls The Venus Project but a lot more money backing him. Until we eradicate money it's the only way to make the vision come alive, even with free resources like the internet. The biggest argument moving forward with the idea will be whether we just have spiritually based natural places like Damanhur or the highly advanced circular cities imagined by Fresco.
