"I am taking a class at the Evergreen State College, in Olympia WA- where we have been discussing and brainstorming what values and practices would be adaptive to our current circumstance as clever but unwise humans on a finite intricately connected planet. Many of the ideas that we have been coming up with are reflected here. It is reassuring to see that others are thinking about these things and coming to similar conclusions. I hope that together we will be able to implement these changes in our collective cultural memes in time to avert self destruction. For if we can turn the tide, to slow our growth and consumption and learn to live again in accordance with the natural cycles of the earth perhaps we may hope to be forgiven by future generations. "
